Herding
The regular classes at a herding trial are Started, Intermediate and Advanced. An owner
may enter a dog in any trial class they deem appropriate; however, once that dog has
acquired a qualifying score in such class at a trial it shall be ineligible to be entered in a
lower class on that course/stock. A qualifying score is 60 or more points, with at least 50
percent of available points awarded for each point category scored. Three qualifying
scores are required to earn each title.

A
Herding Started certificate designating the specific course and livestock type is issued
once the three qualifying scores are obtained, and will identify the dog by use of
HS
(course and livestock) after the dog's registered name.

A
Herding Intermediate (HI) certificate designating course and livestock type is the
second level, again with three qualifying scores. This is followed by the
Herding
Excellent (HX)
certificate with the same criteria and requirements.

A
Herding Champion certificate is awarded to a dog that has acquired an HX title and
earned 15 championship points in Advanced classes, with at least two first place finishes.
At least one of the two first place finishes must be for three or more points. Points are
determined by the number of dogs competing. The designation of
HC will precede the
dog's registered name.

Types of livestock include sheep, cattle and ducks.
